THE CONFIDENT WOMAN will enable you to live with purpose and fulfil your true potential. Joyce Meyer's number one New York Times bestselling book: * Gives you the keys to living a life of confidence and independence * Shows why you can live without fear * Helps you overcome the barriers of the world's false expectations and the emotional damage of abuse * Identifies the 'Seven Secrets of a Confident Woman' Joyce writes with the benefit of over three decades ministering to women. Vocabulary-challenged?? January 1, 2009 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Much as I appreciate Mrs. Meyer's work, this book embarrasses me for her. Just one example: On page 27, chapter 3, she writes, "...I am not trying to cast dispersion on men in general..." Cast "DISPERSION?" Can she mean to say "cast aspersion?" If it's an editorial error, the fault of the publisher, then she should insist on the publisher's recalling all unsold books and reprinting them with appropriate corrections. Vocabulary and usage errors such as this do affect her credibility, especially among educated readers. If I knew nothing at all about Joyce Meyer, and were trying to assess her intelligence based on this book, the errors sprinkled throughout it would lead me to think she was not the sharpest tack in the bucket.
No one is going to say, "Ugh! Joyce Meyer is an intellectual lightweight!" for one or two errors that are clearly typos. However, idiomatic and vocabulary errors are inexcusable. Even seniors in high school are expected to clean up their work before turning it in.
I'm giving her a three for content, but I'd give this book just a one or two for editing. If the fine points of vocabulary and grammar don't matter to you, by all means buy the book. You can have mine.

The Confident Woman September 30, 2008 This book was inspirational and it gave spiritual steps to follow. Joyce Meyer the author is a good speaker as well as writer. She teaches women how to live their lives with her message inspired by the Holy Spirit and on how to reach out to other women.
Helpful and easy read! September 24, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The Confident Woman is a book every woman needs to read! Joyce opens up and allows for a full understanding to why woman struggle with things such as fear, anxiety, lonliness, our past, our appearance, etc. and how to overcome them. Not to say these things won't come up and be an issue, but Joyce guides, with scripture, how to avoid allowing these things defeat you. Very helpful tool to every woman! Good, easy read!
